For a farm entrance or outbuilding without WiFi, consider a 4G solar camera if the site has dependable mobile coverage and sufficient sunlight. Start with specific coverage points rather than assuming one camera can secure an entire farm.
Cover the highest-value areas first
Map the gate, driveway, equipment store and access to buildings. Identify what each view must show: a person at an entrance, activity in a yard or vehicles approaching. Megapixels and PTZ movement do not guarantee readable number plates or identification at long distances.
Test before permanent mounting
Check signal and app access at the proposed height. Keep the panel unshaded and protect accessible fixings. Vegetation, animals and busy roads can increase triggers and battery consumption; adjust the detection area and sensitivity using the model instructions.
