8-Camera CCTV Kits in South Africa: Coverage, Storage and Setup

An 8-camera CCTV kit is useful when a home or business has more than four areas to monitor. Extra cameras let you plan separate views for an entrance, driveway, side access, back yard, garage, stockroom or other priority locations, rather than relying on one distant overview.

Pick the hard-drive package deliberately

The HYS-T14 with 500GB HDD includes eight compact wired cameras, a DVR and a 500GB hard drive. Its listed features include night vision, motion detection and remote app viewing. The cameras are intended for indoor and outdoor monitoring.

The HYS-T14-W without HDD also includes eight cameras and a DVR, but you need a compatible hard drive installed for local recording and playback. At the checked prices above, the 500GB package costs just R1 more. Compare the complete configuration rather than assuming that the version without storage is automatically better value.

Plan eight useful views before choosing positions

For a home, a starting plan might include the front entrance, vehicle gate, driveway, garage approach, two side passages, back door and back yard. For a small shop, you might prioritise the customer entrance, till area, sales floor, stockroom door, loading point and exterior approaches. These are planning examples; the right positions depend on the building and what you need to see.

A camera covering a whole yard may not provide the same useful detail at a doorway. Decide whether each view needs to show general activity or a particular access point, then test the image from the intended mounting position before fixing it permanently.

Allow for eight cable routes and reliable power

This is a wired DVR system. Plan the route from each camera back to the recorder, measure the required distances and check the current package contents before installation. Include a suitable power arrangement for the cameras and DVR in your plan.

Keep the recorder secure indoors and allow access for playback and maintenance. Before connecting remote viewing, set a strong password and test local recording first. Remote phone access requires the recorder to have a suitable internet connection.

Will 500GB record for long enough?

A 500GB drive provides local storage, but it does not guarantee a fixed number of recording days. Retention depends on the camera settings, compression, recording schedule and activity. If keeping footage for a specific period matters, ask AUREY to check suitable storage options before ordering.

After installation, confirm that all eight cameras are recording, the recorder time is correct and a saved event can be played back. Live video alone does not confirm that footage is being stored.

Can you add more cameras later?

The featured eight-camera packages use an eight-channel DVR. Once all eight channels are occupied, do not assume there is spare capacity for a ninth camera. If more views are already planned, discuss a larger compatible recorder and camera configuration before buying.

When is a four-camera kit enough?

If four well-placed views cover your priority areas and the cable layout is simpler, compare the smaller AUREY 4-camera CCTV kits. Choose eight when you have a real need for the additional views, and include installation materials, power and storage in the overall budget.
